Many Manos creeping in the window
Originating from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, celebrated over 2000 years ago to mark the end of summer harvest and beginning of winter. The Celts believed that on the night of October 31st, the boundary berween living and dead was blurred, allowing spirits to roam the earth.
Later the Christian church established All Saint`s Day on November 1st and the night before became known as All Hallow`s Eve.
How and what do you mark on this day? If anything…
Many Manos
Many hands make light work | Know like the back of your hand | Put your hands together
Cold hands warm heart | Show of hands | Dab hand | First Hand | Hand in hand
Hands on | Heavy handed | Old hand | Out of hand | Under hand | Change hands
Hand over | Hands full | Hands tied | In safe hands | Try your hand | Hands down
Second hand | In good hands | Helping hand | On hand | Get your hands dirty
Hand over fist | On the other hand | In your hands

Still spaces in our Saturday classes – 6th & 13th September
We are loving having work from @eliciahunt_jewellery in our window. After a fantastic opening night there has been such a great response – DM us to view and try on some pieces. Work will be available on website soon!
New Work from Elicia Hunt
Join us on Friday 22nd August from 5:30-7:30pm at Workshop6 to celebrate Lissy’s new work on exhibition in the window.
Elicia Hunt is a contemporary jeweller based in Auckland, New Zealand; she graduated from Hungry Creek School of Art and Craft in 2019 with an advanced diploma in Jewellery Design.
Her current body of work is inspired by memories of poking around (grandparents) Frank and Barbara`s house looking for misplaced treasures – linking to a conversation around traditional mourning jewellery and objects we hold on to/leave behind.
